Sherpao satisfied over relief activities

ISLAMABAD—Minister for Interior Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao on Monday expressed satisfaction over relief activities started in the quake-affected areas of the country.
Talking to journalists here, the minister said relief and rescue efforts are underway in all quake-hit areas for the rehabilitation of the affected people.
He said so far 20,000 deaths have been confirmed while search operation is underway in all affected areas of the country. He said government was utilizing all available resources for the rehabilitation of the affectees.
Sherpao said that restoration of road was government's top priority, adding government has re-opened road links for traffic in quake-hit areas of NWFP and AJK.
He said roads of Mansehra-Muzaffarabad, Balakot and Bagh have been opened for traffic. He added with the opening of these roads the on-going relief operation will get in full swing.
The minister said the government was striving to provide maximum medical facilities to the injured by the severe earthquake while tents are being arranged in large number for providing shelter to the affected people. He said international media was also arriving Pakistan to cover the destructions of the earthquake.
