IIMC Trust to provide medical aid, relief to earthquake victims

ISLAMABAD—Islamic International Medical College Trust has made elaborate
arrangements to provide medical aid and relief to the earthquake
victims. Medical teams including doctors and para-medical staff have
already arrived at Mansehra in NWFP and Muzaffarabad, and Bagh in Azad
Kashmir while more teams are being dispatched to the affected areas.
Islamic International Medical College - Trust is the first organization
which sent its doctors, paramedical staff and relief goods and medicines
to Bagh. These medical and relief teams are providing first aid and
emergency treatment to the injured. Serious patients are being
transferred to IIMCT - Pakistan Railway Hospital, Rawalpindi and Islamic
International Medical Complex, Islamabad which are teaching hospitals of
Islamic International Medical College. The Trust is also planning to
establish field hospitals in collaboration with local administration at
the places where at the moment no facilities for treatment are
available.
IIMCT Railway Hospital, Rawalpindi has received over 100 serious
patients from Muzzafarabad, Balakot, Bagh, Rawalpindi and other areas.
Of them 70 patients, coming from Muzzafarabad were critically injured
and about 70% were fractured cases. They were provided medical treatment
including major surgeries. IIMCT Railway Hospital has made special
arrangements to receive more injured people. Similarly arrangements have
also been made at Islamic International Medical Complex, Islamabad for
receiving patients from earthquake affected areas for treatment.
IIMCT has established a Disaster Management Cell to look after the
relief work in the affected areas and coordinate between hospitals and
other aid agencies.
Control Rooms have been established in the Railway Hospital, Rawalpindi
and Islamic International Medical Complex, Islamabad to provide all
types of information about the earthquake affected people being treated
in these hospitals. The control rooms are working round the clock.
The hospitals authorities have appealed to the people particularly
Philanthropist agencies to donate relief goods, medicines and cash
payments to help the victims. The authorities have also appealed for
blood donations. |
