Masses rejected elements having negative approach, says Tariq

ISLAMABAD—Minister of State for Overseas Pakistanis Senator Tariq Azeem said Friday that people have rejected the elements involved in politics of mere slogans and confrontation the local government elections.
The minister said that masses have become politically educated to gauge the performance of candidates before casting their votes.
Those who worked for the solution of problems were voted into power while others rejected he said adding the opposition should mend its attitude in accordance with the feelings of the people. Baseless rigging charges would serve no purpose at a stage when the process of elections has been completed and all institutions would start working soon, he said.
He said the process of local government elections was monitored by independent observers even from abroad and overall it was termed transparent by all.
The minister said that masses have bid farewell to politics of monopoly and a number of un-defeatable politicians of the past lost their seats during the last general elections. Similar trend was prevalent in the local government elections, he added.
He urged the opposition parties to come up with positive approach to watch performance of the government. If they have some reservation regarding government functioning, their point of view would be taken into account, he said.
