Senate body on Health meets

ISLAMABAD—The Sub-Committee of the Senate Standing Committee on Health unanimously agreed to draft amendments in the Pakistan Medical Dental Council (PMDC) Ordinance of 1962, which would be presented to the House in the up coming session.
The sub committee, which met here Friday with Senator Dr. Abdullah Riar in the Chair reviewed the findings of their visits to private medical colleges/universities in various parts of the country. The Committee deliberated upon the recommendations and pending legislative initiatives to reform Pakistan Medical Dental Council (PMDC) and recognition of medical colleges, keeping in view the optimum standards of medical education.
The Committee expressed its dismay on the status of some of the medical colleges/universities during their recent visits to these institutions and underlined the need for their standardization.
The meeting was attended by Senators Dr. Abdullah Riar, Dr. Mrs. Nighat Agha, Mrs. Razina Alam Khan and Dr. Mrs. Kauser Firdaus.
