FPCCI lauds govt's strategy to attract $27b foreign investment

ISLAMABAD—President FPCCI, Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed has welcomed the proactive strategy of President Gen. Pervez Musharraf to attract $27 billion foreign investment in next five years and assured FPCCI's cooperation in achieving the target.
In a statement issued here on Friday, he welcomed the assurance made as part of the strategy that the government would play the role of facilitator and leave the job of doing business to the private sector and said that this was the crying need of the hour.
Chaudhry Saeed said that the recent visit of the President and the Prime Minister to various countries and the invitation to their entrepreneurs to invest in Pakistan would certainly result positively and hoped that the government would be ready to welcome them and provide a hassle free and investment friendly environment as promised.
He said that if the government could remove the irritantsfaced by the investors and make them feel at home it would be a remarkable achievement.
The FPCCI President said that FPCCI and its Standing Committees will be making efforts to convince local investors to join hands with foreign investors to invest in areas which are deficient and require upgradation so that Pakistan become a land of opportunities in the real sense.
