PML leader arrested for thrashing AEC

LAHORE—The Kasur police, acting under the explicit orders of the Chief Election Commissioner Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar, arrested a Punjab Parliamentary Secretary and 8 others on Monday for thrashing an Assistant Election Commissioner.
The Inspector General of Police Punjab, Zia Ul Hassan Khan, informed the Chief Election Commissioner here during a high level meeting held to review the election arrangements that the Parliamentary Secretary, Government of Punjab, Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, his cousin Malik Ejaz Ahmad Khan and other seven of his accomplices involved in the ugly mishap have been arrested under anti-terrorism act 1997.
Home Secretary, Punjab, Hassan Wasim Afzal, DCO and DPO Kasur informed the Chief Election Commissioner about facts of the incident and immediate arrest made by the Police in compliance with his express orders.
The IGP informed that Chief Minister Punjab, Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi, has also taken serious note of this mishap and directed exemplary punishment to the accused irrespective of their social status.
