tenure extended upto 2006

ISLAMABAD—Terming the performance of Director General Pakistan Sports
Board (PSB) Brigadier Arif Mehmood Sadiqui as satisfactory, Prime
Minister Shaukat Aziz has extended his tenure to another one year.
Reliable sources of PSB told this scribe that Brigadier Arif Mehmood
Sadiqui took formal charge as Director General PSB on September 30, 2003
and his term was supposed to be end on September 30,2005, however his
term has been extended for another year following the orders of Prime
Minister Shaukat Aziz after looking at his past performances.
Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has extended his tenure to another one-year
till September 30, 2006 after reviewing his hard work, performance and
his efforts for Pakistan Sports in the country.
Sources further told this scribe that in view to get rid of differences
in PSB, President Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) and Chairman
Pakistan Sports Trust Lt General Syed Arif Hasan played an important and
significance role for the extension of tenure of Brigadier Arif Mehmood
Sadiqui. Their efforts have finally been rewarded and his tenure has
been extended till September 30, 2006.
From time to time, they briefed the PM regarding the efforts of
Brigadier Arif Mehmood Sadiqui.
It has been further told that Brigadier Arif Mehmood Sadiqui is retiring
from his services of Pakistan Army later this year.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has formally in written has
informed Ministry of Sports regarding extension in tenure of one year of
Brigadier Arif Mehmood Sadiqui.
The official notification is expected to be issued on Saturday (today).
Brigadier Arif Mehmood Sadiqui has been a hardworking person for many
years and has done utmost for the welfare and interests of promotion of
sports in the country from grass root levels and improve the
infrastructure for better results.
Due to his supreme efforts Pakistan government has allocated a record
budget in current financial year budget for Pakistan Sports Board in
view of promotion of sports in the country.
