Senate Standing Committee on Education, S&T meets

ISLAMABAD—The Senate Standing Committee on Education, Science and Technology which met here on Friday in the Parliament House with senator Mrs Razina Alam Khan in the Chair has underlined the need for a strong linkage between industry and academic institutions imparting education in the fields of engineering, science and technology.
This observation was made by the Committee while finalizing the recommendations of the subcommittee constituted to prepare recommendations regarding linkages between industry and educational institutions of science and technology. The members of the committee were also of the view that internship linkage will provide our youths, scientists and technologists knowledge, practice and experience.
The committee unanimously approved the recommendations of the subcommittee and recommended that Pakistan Technology Board (PTB) should take a lead and provide building principles for the establishment of a viable scientific and technological linkage, development of required legal framework, creating industrial linkage regulatory authority, constituting managing and coordinating body and prioritize areas for S& T industrial linkage.
The chairperson of the committee appreciated the hectic work done by the members of the subcommittee. The Committee also decided to visit schools in their respective provinces in order to know about their problems and finalized its programme to visit the various institutions/departments of science and technology. Earlier, committee offered Fatiha for the departed soul of the sister of senator Mrs Nighat Mirza who died in Karachi on Thursday.
The meeting was attended by senators Mrs Tahir Latif, Dr Mrs Nighat Agha, Mrs Tanweer Khalid, Professor Muhammad Saeed Siddiqi, Mrs Roshan Khursheed Bharucha and Dr Muhammad Said.
