ISLAMABAD—Muhammad Basharat Raja; Provincial Minister for Law and Local
Bodies announced Rs.5 lac grant for Rawalpindi-Islamabad Photo
Journalists’ Association. He expressed these views while awarding
certificates to twin city photojournalists, at a ceremony held here at
Rawalpindi Arts Council, here this Monday.
According to details, RIPJA organized it’s annual photographic
exhibition and awards ceremony at Rawalpindi Arts Council, here this
Monday. Mohammad Basharat Raja was the chief guest. Speaking on the
occasion, the Minister reiterated his desire to improve RIPJA on modern
lines, bringing it in par with the photojournalistic societies across
the country. He announced a Rs.5 lac grant to RIPJA in this regard.
It is pertinent to mention here that The Daily Mail’s staffer Ms. Uzma
Zafar was one of the award winners of the exhibition. She not only
received a reward for standing 4th in the photo contest but was also
honoured for being the newest entrant and only female photographer of
RIPJA.
President RIPJA, earlier, highlighted various issues plaguing the
photojournalists of the society at large while terming the
photojournalists as warriors who are often neglected while in the field
and subjected to cops’ torture even but still keep covering events in
the forefront. Directess RAC on the other hand, briefed about various
activities of the Council. Photo exhibition of RIPJA that began here
yesterday, would go on for a week. |
