All set for Defence Day celebrations

RAWALPINDI—Armed Forces along with the entire nation will celebrate the Defence Day of Pakistan on September 6 (Tuesday).
The day of September 6 carries a significant place in the country’s history when the entire nation along with their valiant armed forces defended the motherland 40 years ago against an aggressor which was much superior to them in numbers.
The Day will dawn with prayers in all mosques of the country including unit mosques in all garrisons. Prayers will be offered for the prosperity and well being of the country.
Fateha will be offered for the Shuhada who rendered supreme sacrifices while defending the motherland. Messages of the Services Chiefs will be read out to troops in Special Darbars in all units and establishments of Army, Navy and Pakistan Air Force.
To pay homage and memories the sacrifices of valiant Shuhada and Ghazies wreath laying ceremonies will be held at the recipients of Nishane-e-Haider, Captain Sarwar Shaheed, Major Tufail Shaheed, Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed, Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed, Sawar Muhammad Hussain, Lance Naik Mehfooz Shaheed, Shaheed, Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas Shaheed, Captain Karnal Sher Shaheed and Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed.
Grand Fauji Melas are being held in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi and Quetta where various military equipment has been displayed for the interest of general public.
Entry for general public will be free in these fauji melas where various events like Para Jumping, Air Show, Heli Raid, Band Display, Artillery Action, Tank Action and many other interesting Askari demonstrations have been organized. Arrangements are being made for live telecast of the Fauji Mela on PTV.
Pakistan Television and other private television channels have made special arrangements to telecast Armed Forces’ documentaries, Askari songs, plays, talk shows and other programmes of interest for the viewers.
Print media will bring special supplements to highlight the bravery and unmatched heroic acts of Ghazies and Shaheeds.
