18 killed in Karak road mishap

KARAK—At least 18 people including four children and three women were killed in a head-on collision between an Oil Tanker and a passenger coach on Indus Highway near Karak here Saturday morning.
The identity of the dead could not be ascertained immediately while one injured was admitted to the Civil Hospital, Karak, police sources confirmed.
The ill-fated passenger coach, bearing registration number (8306-Lahore), was carrying passengers from Peshawar to Dera Ismail Khan. When it reached Spin Banda near Karak it collided head on with an Oil Tanker (0074-PP) coming from the opposite direction. As a result, 11 men, three women and four children died on the spot.
According to police three deceased belonged to D.I. Khan, three to Karak and one belonged to Mohmand Agency.
The accident was so severe that the passenger coach was completely destroyed.
The cause of incident was stated to be overspeeding.—Agencies
