Probe body hears Sonia Naz

LAHORE—A high level committee, probing the rape victim Sonia Naz's case has informed initial statement of rape victim has been recorded and application to file FIR against the police officials including SP Khalid Abdullah allegedly involved in the notorious case has also been prepared saying that the responsible will be given exemplary punishment. Addressing a crowded joint press conference, Asma Jahangir, on Friday, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) crimes branch Zafar Qureshi said, application to file FIR against the police officials involved in the dastardly act has been prepared. It may be recalled that Sonia Naz was subjected to worst kind of violence and subsequently gang raped by responsible police officers among whom SP Khalid Abdullah was facing severe allegations regarding torture and rape of Sonia Naz.
"We are fully cooperating with the committee probing Sonia Naz case and the committee will soon present report after its findings," DIG crime branch said assuring that rape victim's would get justice. Sonia Naz advocate Asma Jahangir while speaking on the occasion informed that applications had been prepared to file FIR against the police officials involved in this gruesome act. Meanwhile, talking to media-people at her advocate Asma Jahangir's office, rape victim Sonia Naz said that she was not pressurized while recording her statement to the probe committee. "I have subjected to worst kind of violence by SHO Jamshed Chishti and he has made my open insult, but I am optimistic to get justice," she hoped. Enumerating her story, Sonai informed that she was on her way home with medicine for her ailing child when some persons abducted her on gun point and drove towards unknown location.
She went on to say she was locked up in a room for four-long days and she was asked to speak to SP Khalid Abdullah on phone adding, but when I asked SP Khalid for help in return he replied that he was coming to teach me a lesson. "SP Khalid Abdullah came and subjected me to excessive violence and made a futile attempt to rape me, latter, SP Khalid Abdullah sent SHO Jamshed Chishti who raped me," she lamented. When asked, she ruled out any pressure while recording statement before the committee probing the case. She feared that SP Khalid Abdullah and his police aides were influential officials and she had reservations that they could inflict harm to her.
