Senate Body voices for Inzamam inclusion in World XI squad

ISLAMABAD—Senate Standing Committee on Sports and Culture has demanded from International Cricket Council (ICC) to include star cricketer, Captain of Pakistan team Inzammam-ul-Haq in World XI side for Super Cricket Series.
The committee made this observation while discussing the issue of England team’s reluctance to play a test match in Karachi later this year. The meeting was held in Parliament House on Thursday under the chairmanship of Senator Zafar Iqbal.
The meeting lasted for more than two hours. The all-important meeting included Senator Anwar Baig, Kausar Firdaus, Murad Ali Shah, Rozina Alam Khan, Nighat Agha, Federal Minister for Sports and Culture Muhammad Ajmal Khan, Chairman PCB Shahriyar Khan and PCB Director Operations and Protocol Abbas Zaidi besides other high ups and members.
The Senate Standing Committee on Sports and Culture demanded from International Cricket Council (ICC) to include Superstar, Captain of Pakistan team Inzammam ul Haq in World XI side for Super Cricket Series against World Champs Australia who are perhaps the best team in the world as his capabilities have no questions and he is undoubtedly a match winner in both forms of the game either ODI or test arena. He has a batting average acclaimed in both forms of the game.
On the other hand the members of the Senate Standing Committee on Sports and Culture put forward a question to PCB Chairman regarding England team not playing test in Karachi, in reply to a question he responded that ECB send a security team before finanlizing the tour itinerary. The security team decided not to play test match in Karachi but recommended for ODI. The said proposal was endorsed by the UK Government.
He said PCB Patron in Chief, President Pervez Musharraf was also informed regarding England team not playing in Karachi.
Replying to another question, he said that though Peshawer and Quetta were excluded from England team tour to Pakistan, but in the upcoming series with India, appropriate measures would be taken in this regard.
Replying to a question regarding PCB constitution, PCB Chairman Shahriyar Khan said that PCB constitution has already been send to PCB Patron in Chief, President Pervez Musharraf for formal approval in this respect.
He further told Senate Standing Committee on Sports and Culture that PCB in writing has informed ICC on the issue of Inzammam. The Members of the Committee called upon the Selection Committee of the World XI to revoke its decision and include genius Inzammam so that the concern of the people of Pakistan and the cricket lovers could be removed.
PCB has given a suggestion to ICC to change the panel of members of Selection Committee each time for finalizing and constituting World XI team.
It is pertinent to mention that PCB Chairman answered several questions before the committee to explain particularly the reasons behind Karachi not being allotted test venue for English team during their forthcoming tour along with other matters including the PCB constitution and the board’s failure not to take action for leaving Inzammam ul Haq from World XI side methodically and carefully in detail.
PCB Chairman Shahriyar Khan missed the last meeting on August 22, officially because of his daughter-in-law’s illness, however led a PCB delegation that met President Musharraf, only the following day.

PCB Chairman fails to give correct answers: Anwar Baig

ISLAMABAD—Senator Anwar Baig Thursday said that PCB Chairman Shahriyar Khan failed to give appropriate answers to the questions raised upon him in Senate Standing Committee meeting on Sports, Culture, Tourism and Youth Affairs in the Parliament House on Thursday.
While talking to group of journalists on Thursday, Senator Anwar Baig said that Shahriyar Khan failed to respond to the questions raised on him in befitting manner and failed to give apt answers in the meeting.
He said that Inzammam’s issue was second to the others as the Members of the Senate Committee did not ask PCB officials about steps taken for improvement of domestic cricket in the country.
He further reiterated that every one wants to know regarding exclusion of superstar, Captain of Pakistan team Inzammam ul Haq from World XI side and the steps taken by PCB for including the senior cricketer in the prestigious side.—Online
