Premier wants ties with India
based on equality

ISLAMABAD—Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said that in order to ensure
longer lasting peace and stability in the region, it is imperative to
initiate comprehensive and conducive dialogue and mutual consensus.
He fully lauded the ongoing process of dialogues by Foreign Secretaries
of the two countries.
He expressed his sagacious views with the visiting Indian Foreign
Secretary, Shayam Saran, who called on the Prime Minister on Thursday.
The Indian Foreign Secretary discussed bilateral relations and other
mutual issues between the two neighboring countries with the Prime
Minister. The earlier talks held between, President Musharraf and
Manmohan Singh were also critically reviewed by the two luminaries.
Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz conveyed Pakistan’s positive and willing
stance to discuss all disputes, including the foremost Kashmir issue and
other bilateral issues on the basis of equality between two countries.
The Prime Minister derided any aggressive modus operandi for solving
long-standing and controversial disputes, as simply unthinkable.
The Prime Minister said that relationship between two countries had
taken a positive turn for good after his official tour of India and that
would progress more with the forthcoming Musharraf-Manmohan Singh
dialogue in New York, this month.
He made it amply clear to the visiting Foreign secretary that a just and
speedy solution to the long-standing Kashmir dispute was imminent, and
which can be easily solved with the tri-party mutual consensus of
Pakistan-Kashmir-Indian parlays.
The visiting Indian Foreign Secretary, Mr.Shayam Singh hoped that the
forthcoming Musharraf-Manmohan Singh talks in New York would usher in a
new and conducive era of peace and stability of the region, giving both
the parties an ample initiative for future dialogues.
Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz Thursday hoped that human rights violations
in the Indian Occupied Kashmir would be brought to an end and Kashmiris
would be made part of the Pakistan-India peace process. The Prime
Minister appreciated that the completion of the second round of the
Composite Dialogue has created the positive atmosphere required to make
tangible progress on issues of mutual concern including the Jammu and
Kashmir dispute.
The Prime Minister hoped that progress in all areas of the composite
dialogue would be in tandem, meaningful and result oriented. The Prime
Minister hoped that the Iran-Pakistan-India gas Pipeline project would
be an important economic CBM. The Indian Foreign Secretary conveyed the
greetings of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to the Prime Minister. |
