Nirma wants to try her luck in Bollywood

LAHORE—On
the footsteps of Meera, another Pakistani actress Nirma is keen on
trying her luck in Bollywood. Nirma, who has acted in 35-40 films as
well as television serials in her country, says she wants to explore
possibilities in the Indian showbiz industry. “I have been talking to a
few people, but nothing has come up yet. I am being choosy about my
work. I do not want to get into Bollywood and do anything and
everything,” Nirma told in an interview.
The actress’ hit films include “Laaj”, “Shararat”, “Qarz” and “Behram
Daku”. She is also a known face on the small screen and in music videos
in Pakistan. Nirma agrees that Pakistani cine stars are getting more
interested in the Indian film industry. “The Indian film industry is far
bigger than what we have in Pakistan. It’s true that more and more
Pakistani artists wish to work in Indian films today,” she said.
“It is a natural urge for people to go to a bigger industry. Even many
Indian artists wish to go to Hollywood.” While her compatriot Meera
attracted much media attention for her bold performance in the Indian
film “Nazar”, Nirma says she would like to do some “serious work” in
Bollywood. “I would like to do some serious acting in Bollywood. I would
have loved to do Rani Mukherjee’s role in ‘Black’,” she said.
Though a good role is important for her, Nirma says she is not fussy
about directors. “There are a number of Indian directors who are
extremely talented. I can’t point out one as my favourite. I am ready to
work with anyone who gives me a good role,” she says.
Meanwhile, Pakistani film actress Meera, who has earned more name and
fame after taking to Indian films, has accepted a role in a new
Bollywood film “Killer”, produced by noted film-producer Mahesh Bhatt.
Meera’s role in her new film is reportedly quite similar to the one
performed by Madhuri Dixit in Tezab, that of a dancer girl.
The Pakistani starlet said in an interview, that she has also signed
another film Roti alongside Bobby Deol. She also said that her new film
with Lucky Ali would be released in two months, and that she had hired
Javed Akhtar to write her family production to be released in Pakistan.
She clarified, that she performed her roles according to the demands of
the character, without indulging in vulgarity. Meera’s sister Aqsa, who
is in India, reportedly said she was averse to exposure. That’s why, she
said, she had refused a role in Mahesh Bhatt’s Gangster, as it required
a great deal of exposure.
