ISLAMABAD-The 46th edition of the National Men's Volleyball Championship 2011 reached at top-eight stage, as defending champions Pakistan WAPDA, Police, Railway, Army, Navy, PAF, Punjab, and KPK confirmed their berths in the knock out round by beating their respective challengers at WAPDA Sports Complex on Sunday.
From Pool "A " WAPDA and Railway have jumped into the quarterfinals while from Pool "B", Navy and KPK, Pool, from "C" Army and Punjab and Pool "D", PAF and Police.
WAPDA beat Railway in straight sets, 25-16, 25-16 and 25-20. The defeat could not dent Railway chances for not making it to next round because of their better position on points table.
PAF routed Police without labour in after four sets, 25-17, 18-25, 25-19, and 25-15 but both the teams have sailed to the next round being the group leaders.
PAF a galaxy of international players demonstrated higher level of volleyball with sizzling serves and rock like defence to simply outsmart Police which did not hard work in the match knowing their already qualification to the quarter finals.
Punjab presented against Army neck to neck fight to make some impression in the first two sets and top of the line were Munir Ahmed and Tanveer.
