Staff Report
ISLAMABAD – Amid the mounting lawlessness in Balochistan, the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday directed the Inter-Services Intelligence and the Militarily Intelligence to submit a detailed report on the security situation of the province on March 7.
A three-member bench headed by Justice Shakirullah Jan was hearing two cases – a petition filed by Balochistan High Court Bar Association (BHCBA) against the incidents of target killing, kidnapping for ransom and the overall poor law and order situation in the province, and suo motu notice on the killings of MPA Balochistan Bakhtiar Domki’s wife and daughter.
In the last hearing, the court had ordered the ISI and MI to submit the report. Today, Attorney General Maulvi Anwarul Haq informed the court that he had conveyed the court’s message to ISI and MI and that the agencies had requested that time be given to them for filing of the report.
The attorney general informed the court that the ISI and MI had requested for an in-camera briefing in the court’s chambers due to the sensitivity of the case.
‘Findings in the Domki family murder probe equivalent to zero’
While rejecting a report submitted before the court by the additional advocate general of Sindh, Justice Tariq Pervez observed that the findings in the Domki’s family murder probe were equivalent to “zero”.
