Sindh home secretary issued notice in Afaq case

KARACHI – Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued notice to home secretary Sindh for December 7 on petition filed against detention of MQM-H leader Afaq Ahmad.

A 2-member bench of SHC presided over by the Chief Justice SHC took up the case for hearing Thursday. The petitioner took the plea that courts had issued orders for releasing Afaq Ahmad in all cases but government detains rather than releasing him under political pressure. This detention is illegal and a violation of fundamental rights. Khurram Maqsood, counsel for Afaq Ahmad took the ground detention of Afaq Ahmad is breach of constitution, legal and court’s orders and all the cases registered against his client were baseless. – Agencies
