ISLAMABAD – The National Vocational and Technical Education Commission (NAVTEC) has carved out National Skill Strategy to impart skill and vocational training to the unemployed youth.
The National Skill Strategy will help mitigate the unemployment burden on the economy as well as society in a substantial manner besides opening up new avenues of economic headway for the country. The strategy devised by putting in concerted efforts and diligence, is aimed at earning foreign exchange by sending skilled labour against the demand from diverse countries, revealed documents of National Vocational and Technical Education Commission (NAVTEC).
The National Skill Strategy was developed within a short span of 18 months with the cooperation and extensive consultation of assorted stakeholders including local and international experts, relevant ministries, and provincial governments, training providers, private sector associations and chambers of commerce. The National Skill Strategy has been carved out for the first time in the nation's history by NAVTEC under the dynamic leadership of its Chairman Adnan A Khawaja.
The National Vocational and Technical Education Commission is the country's apex body which offers policy direction and regulate and coordinate Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector.
Youth aging from 15 to 40 years, are virtually a gold mine and precious asset which should be exploited properly to achieve raison detre of economic prosperity and fast economic development.
In keeping with the present democratic dispensation's policy, NAVTEC is giving heed to the youth and neglected populace by offering short term skill development project under the Prime Minister's Hunarmand Pakistan Programme, and the President's `Funni Maharrat Progamme' for uncovered Tehsils across the country with the cooperation of the provincial governments. As many as 100,000 youth were imparted training during the tenure of Adnan A Khawaja as chairman.
