CPC vows to enhance ties with France

BEIJING The Communist Party of China (CPC) will enhance exchanges and cooperation with French political parties so as to promote China-France ties, a senior official said here Friday.

The pledge was made during a meeting between He Guoqiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and a delegation of the French Union for a Popular Movement (UMP), led by its Secretary-General Jean-Francois Cope at the Great Hall of the People in downtown Beijing.

He, also head of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, spoke highly of the friendly cooperation between the CPC and UMP. He hoped the two sides would continue to strengthen dialogue and exchanges, so as to consolidate the political foundation for a comprehensive development of China-France relations.

Cope, who is on his sixth China visit, said his aim is to further promote the relations between the two parties and two countries.

He Guoqiang said China attached high importance to China-France ties, and was ready to join hands to promote a new China-France comprehensive strategic partnership featuring mutual trust, reciprocity, maturity and stability with a global prospective.

He called on the two countries to strengthen strategic coordination within multilateral frameworks and on global affairs, and work together to deal with the international financial risks and Europe's sovereign debt crisis, maintain global financial stability and promote the world's economic recovery.
